Echo: What does being crowned the first-ever Femme Arizona Entertainer of the Year 2015 mean to you?
Loza: Being crowned Femme AZEOY 2015 means everything to me. My passion has always been to perform … It feels amazing to receive such an honorable title after my 13 years of dancing.
Echo: Describe your style as an entertainer; who are your inspirations?
Loza: My biggest inspiration is Lady Gaga. I love to impersonate her because she does whatever the heck she wants to and it’s fierce.
Echo: Any message you’d like to extend to all involved in AZEOY?
Loza: I am so proud of all the contestants. I was blown away by everyone’s creativity and individuality! We need to ALL be proud of ourselves. Arizona’s got some major talent and EOY is an amazing system that embraces our gifts as performers and does not limit our creativity. Thank you to all the fans who have enjoyed my craft as a performer and have spread nothing but love! I do it for all of you.
Echo: What was your favorite category and why?
Loza: My favorite category has to be talent! There’s nothing more I love to do than to dance. I love to hear the audience cheer and get everyone up out of their seats, especially when I share the stage with my friends who tear it up with me.
Echo: Everyone loves talent, tell me about your performance:
Loza: My talent was my forte: Lady Gaga! It begins slow with my two men who have brought me to life then goes into high energy dancing. We have lifts and quick changes, which took quit a bit of rehearsing.
Echo: What specific measures did you take to prepare for this pageant?
Loza: I had to sacrifice a huge amount of sleep time. With a full time job starting at 6 a.m. almost every morning, I had to stay up late every night as it got closer to show time, averaging four hours of sleep.
Echo: What specific measures do you plan on taking to prepare for the national pageant?
Loza: Fundraising, fundraising and lots of fundraising. With nationals being all the way in Kentucky, I am taking any opportunity to financially help me with travel and gown cost.
Echo: Biggest lesson you learned through this experience?
Loza: DO NOT PROCRASTINATE! It feels like a bigger weight on your shoulders when you leave everything for the last minute. Plan ahead and everything will come at ease.
Echo: Any advice for entertainers just starting out?
Loza: The advice I would give is to stay true to yourself and remember to stay humble. Even when you feel that you have reached your highest point, don’t forget where you came from and the people who helped you get there.
Echo: Anything else you’d like to add?
Loza: Because I am new to the pageant scene, I was not very knowledgeable in what exactly I needed to do nor did I know many people who knew. I had the help from my amazing crew: my sister Arely and brother in law Timothy, my love Sabrina, my best friend Milena, my mom Elvia, and my amazing dancers Destiny, Taylor, Justin and Randy. I would not have been able to do this without them. Thank you to all my family and friends who came out to support me. I love you guys! A big shout out to Kevin and Richard for putting on such a great pageant that both the audience and contestants enjoyed! Congratulations to my new royalty family; we are ready to represent Arizona at nationals!
